Appendix B. Legacy Project Questions
Why a List?
Much of the advice I have offered is spread across several chapters and involves the use of anecdotes.
Therefore, I have built a list of questions that can be used when someone takes ownership of a legacy project, to help identify issues and problem areas. You should try to get these answered as-soon-as-possible. Take the list of questions with you when talking to those who have experience of the system.
In order to de-risk your system you should be especially careful of anything that is unavailable or will take a long time (such as access to hardware).
The list is broken down into sections and some (such as source code) may, or may not, be applicable to your project. These lists are not comprehensive, and you should add items relevant to your industry and technology.
