Mobile Access Gateway for proxy and content

Next we will look at Mobile Access Gateway (MAG), its purpose, and deployment for usage. The usage of MAG will also be covered in Chapter 9, Mobile Application and Mobile Browser Management, as it is also needed to provide initiatives with browser deployments securely.

MAG overview

MAG serves as a secure relay between your mobile users and your internal corporate content. This allows you to provide access securely and efficiently to users' devices once they have been enrolled with AirWatch. MAG is able to authenticate and encrypt all traffic to and from user devices to corporate systems where the data exists.

Note

As stated in Chapter 3, Enterprise Integrations, you may have installed the EIS as an old customer. The EIS has been replaced by ACC and MAG and you can only install EIS or ACC/MAG. Since ACC was installed in Chapter 3, Enterprise Integrations, the EIS should already be disabled and shouldn't cause any issues with the MAG installation.
