What is custom duty/charge?

Customs duty are charges levied on goods when they cross international borders. It is a tax that is imposed on imported goods. These duties are charged by special authorities and bodies created by local governments and are meant to protect local industries, economies, and businesses.

Do I have to pay customs charges for the print book order?

The orders shipped to the countries that are listed under EU27 will not bear custom charges. They are paid by Packt as part of the order.

A custom duty or localized taxes may be applicable on the shipment and would be charged by the recipient country outside of the EU27 which should be paid by the customer and these duties are not included in the shipping charges been charged on the order.

How do I know my custom duty charges?

The amount of duty payable varies greatly depending on the imported goods, the country of origin and several other factors like the total invoice amount or dimensions like weight, and other such criteria applicable in your country.

For example:

If you live in Mexico, and the declared value of your ordered items is over $ 50, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 19% which will be $ 9.50 to the courier service.
Whereas if you live in Turkey, and the declared value of your ordered items is over € 22, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 18% which will be € 3.96 to the courier service.

How can I cancel my order?

I have read tons of SOA book on the subject of Governance. 99% of the time these books are theoretical with a complete lack of practicality and real-life use cases.This is the first book I have ever read that provides a real insight into what governance truly is and how people and process must be dealt with in conjunction with tools in order to successfully deliver business benefits.The book is a "gem" because it provide a series of real-live use cases described in great level of detail but most importantly it shows how the Oracle Governance tools can be used to solved this issues.Last but not least, this is the first book ever written that talks about Oracle Enterprise Repository. It probably contains the best documentation on this tool available today.Excellent book, definitely a "must read" even if you are not an Oracle practitioner.

As the Oracle Fusion Middleware Practice Lead for Mythics, Inc. (Oracles largest NA partner), I read a lot of material related to SOA and specifically the Oracle SOA products and I must say that this is by far one of the best books I've read on SOA, much less SOA Governance. The authors do an excellent job of laying the foundation for understanding the people and process aspects of SOA Governance and then how to effectively support those people and process components using the Oracle SOA Governance technology suite (Oracle Enterprise Repository and Service Registry). The book covers the theoretical then enforces the points by walking through very realistic use cases following a fictitious company through the analysis and implementation process. The book provides very practical guidance for implementing design time and runtime governance and detailed technical instructions for setting up and configuring the Oracle tools. I've recently got a chance to read this excellent book on Oracle SOA Governance 11g Implementation by Luis Augusto Wei. I have been looking for a while for a book on SOA Governance specifically for Oracle SOA and this book ended my search. We have a big SOA landscape and are having issues in governance of services. Reading this book did clear almost all of our concerns and we are on our way to finalize our approach.I recommend everyone to have this book on hand this book is good for everyone i.e. Architects, Developers and SOA Consultants.
