1. A list of proposed changes to the JDK.
2. Broad informational appeal.
3. Proposals must meet one of the following criteria:
   • Requires significant engineering work to implement (at least two weeks)
   • Involves a significant change to the JDK or its infrastructure
   • Is a high demand item from Java developers or users
4. Draft—this is the earliest state and is used when the JEP has been written and the author is circulating it for consensus.
5. Posted—once the author obtains consensus, the JEP can be logged into the JEP Archive.
6. Submitted—the author sets this status once the JEP is deemed ready for formal evaluation.
7. Candidate—once the OpenJDK Lead accepts the JEP, and it is changed to this state.
8. Funded—funded indicates a functional area lead or a group lead has judged the JEP to be fully funded.
