The Threats of AI
These final two chapters aim to improve your situational awareness relating to potential threats from AIs.
We’ve already said that artificial intelligence may become the most powerful tool we’ve ever built, and as such, in the wrong hands, it could be used to cause great harm and suffering. However, it may also be the first tool that can choose to act against us. As such, we must prepare for at least two threats:
- Humans misusing AIs
- Rogue AIs
The next two chapters will be thought-provoking with a healthy amount of speculation. So, you’ll need to be open-minded. In some cases, very open-minded.
To help open our minds, let’s remind ourselves how amazing we are as a species by considering just a few of the wondrous things we’ve already created and achieved.
