Appendix G: Graphical Network Simulator-3 (GNS3)

Unlike Cisco Packet Tracer, Graphical Network Simulator-3, or better known as GNS3, is an application that emulates a computer network on your computer. The fact that it is an emulator means that you are simulating the Cisco IOS. Actually, you play with devices such as switches and routers as if they were physical devices. Compared to Cisco Packet Tracer, this means that any functionality and command that works on physical switches and routers will work in GNS3. With all its benefits, for an administrator network, GNS3 is an application that must be owned.
