Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

We briefly touched on BYOD in Chapter 5, Mobile Device Management as it does have its opportunities within MDM and is currently being used heavily for MDM deployments. We will continue this discussion in this chapter, as the workspace management deployment will most likely become the preferred method for BYOD in the future.

Using BYOD with MDM provides users with more native experience and deployment, but at the cost of needing to manage the device. As you continue to grow your BYOD strategy and deployment, you may still find a need to provide MDM for those users who truly prefer that native experience, and with AirWatch, you have the flexibility of providing the option. However, moving forward with BYOD and with the continued growth of more users purchasing their own smartphones and requiring access to more corporate information on their personal devices, containerization makes most sense.
