As MDM and BYOD matured and grew, there was a realization and an expectation that organizations are able to more efficiently provide access to corporate data on mobile devices. With MDM, there is a fine line between providing access to corporate resources and the manageability of a user's personal device and what information can be seen on that user's device. With MDM, a profile is needed on the device in order to manage and push profiles to that device. What an administrator can and can't see on that device is all dependent on the privacy settings that have been configured for the device ownership. Yes, it is important to ensure that the privacy for personal-owned devices is set up not to collect any personal information and that it is documented and communicated to the users, but there is always a possibility that this could be changed, or someone could easily change the ownership of a personal device that allows access to GPS information...
