Time for action—exploring FX

Using effects chains, we can send a sound into new spaces and created interesting timbres. We will be essentially creating a sequence of processes that will alter the sound at each step:

  1. Go to the bassline instrument we are using in our Beats+Basslines Editor and click on FX. You will see the following screenshot:

  2. There is a button next to the area that says EFFECTS CHAIN. Click on this button to enable your plugins.
  3. After clicking the Enable button, click the Add effect button. You'll be presented with an impressive list of plugins that are included with LMMS. These plugins have an interesting descriptor: LADSPA.

    Note

    LADSPA stands for Linux Audio Developer Simple Plugin API. These plugins are all free and are constantly being created in the Linux community. This is why, when you open the Add effect list, there are so many choices.

  4. When you click on an effect, it will give you a description of the effect below. All you have to do next is click OK. Let...
