Identifying appropriate licensing for Microsoft Teams Rooms and common area phones
Microsoft Teams Rooms is a feature that brings video, audio, and other collaborative experiences to meeting spaces on your office premises. Teams Rooms is compatible with several shared communication devices, such as common area phones and a range of audio/visual peripherals from supported third-party providers.
Microsoft provides the following two dedicated license SKUs for licensing meetings and calling on a per-device basis:
- Microsoft Teams Rooms Standard
- Microsoft Teams Room Premium
All these SKUs include support for Phone System, audio conferencing, and Microsoft Intune. However, the Microsoft Teams Rooms Premium offering also includes a Managed Services option.
With Teams Rooms, you can do the following:
- Join a scheduled meeting.
- Start an ad hoc meeting.
