You learned how to build web services in this chapter. First, you were introduced to the REST architecture for the server/client model based on HTTP. Then you learned the basic rules for the RESTful API's design; you modified the myJournal website application from previous chapters and implemented a RESTful API that contains the endpoints for all the routes in myJournal. You essentially turned your website application into a web service. Instead of rendering web pages for the clients, your myJournal application now offers web services to clients via the RESTful API. In the next chapters, you're going to learn how to deploy your Vapor and Kitura applications to the cloud and write an iOS client application that works with API Gateway.
