Integrating on-premises data with canvas apps
Not all data lives in the cloud; sometimes, organizational restrictions, legacy platforms that are too expensive to migrate, or complex network infrastructures make our job a little more complicated.
There are different ways to overcome these challenges, such as synchronization processes and exposing application interfaces outside the local infrastructure. Thankfully, one of the most significant features of the Power Platform is the ability to connect to on-premises services using a data gateway.
The on-premises data gateway acts as a bridge between the local services and Azure. There is no need to set authentication methods for the services you need to access; this only allows the platforms to be visible to each other—authentication takes place afterward.
Gateways not only allow you to connect to databases; they also include access to the file system, local SharePoint servers, and other on-premises services.
