Introducing Microsoft Power BI
Microsoft Power BI is a cloud-based platform that can be used for reporting and data analysis from a wide range of data sources. The platform is made up of several different components (that you can use independently or in a combination):
- Power Query: This is a tool for data discovery and transformation, and is able to work with data that comes from different data sources
- Power Pivot: This is an in-memory tabular data modeling tool
- Power View: This is a data visualization tool
- Power Map: This is a 3D geo-spatial data visualization tool
- Power Q&A: This is a natural language question and answering engine for Power BI
- Power BI Desktop: This is a desktop development tool for Power BI analysis and reporting
- PowerBI.com website: This is the Power BI portal (cloud service) where you can publish data analysis and reports and share them with your team
- Power BI Mobile Apps: These are the mobile applications for Power BI (Android, iOS, and Windows Mobile)
