Marking guides


You can communicate the rules of the challenge using a marking guide. Create a new assignment (Add an activity…). Then edit the assignment. When you view this activity in Moodle, do the following:

  1. In the ADMINISTRATION block, select Advanced grading. In the drop-down box, choose Marking guide or Grading guide (US):

  2. While viewing an assignment, select Advanced grading in the ADMINISTRATION block.

  3. Define a new grading form from scratch, and enter your criterion and maximum marks. This is an example of a quick way to set up gaming levels:

    • Criterion 1 name: The Bronze level–type the names of five plants (50 points)

    • Criterion 2 name: The Silver level–research which plant families these belong to (35 points)

    • Criterion 3 name: The Gold level–split your list to identify which of these plants would be called "weeds" or non-noxious plants (15 points)
