Installing OpenContrail


OpenContrail is available under the Apache 2.0 license as a fully open source project. It is an actively maintained project and the best way to get a feel for OpenContrail is to build and install it from source code.

Version

For the purposes of this section, we will use OpenContrail version 3.0.

Prerequisites

In order to get hands-on knowledge of installing OpenContrail, we will use the Ubuntu Server 14.04.4 LTS-based server or a virtual machine. A minimum of 4 GB RAM (recommended 8 GB) and 70 GB hard disk space is needed for this procedure.

Installing OpenContrail

The OpenContrail project supports different types of installation scripts, including steps to integrate with OpenStack. In this section, we will focus on building and installing OpenContrail from source code on GitHub:
