Supporting the Developers
The Scrum Master role is primarily one of leadership. The Scrum Guide states that the Scrum Master is a true leader who serves the Scrum Team and the larger organization. The Scrum Master serves the Scrum Team in the following way:
- Coaching team members on Scrum processes and practices
- Protecting the Scrum Team from unnecessary distractions or interference
- Removing obstacles that impede progress
- Ensuring that all Scrum Events happen on time, stay within their timebox, and are conducted in a productive manner according to the Scrum Values
Leadership is not about telling people what to do; it’s about creating an environment where people are intrinsically motivated to work together to achieve a common goal.
