Route 53 is a highly available and scalable domain name service and primarily provides the following four functionalities:
- Domain management: Allows you to register a new domain and transfers the existing domain
- DNS management:
- Route 53 translates friendly domain names such as abc.com into IP addresses such as 1.2.3.4.
- Route 53 uses its authoritative DNS server across a global network to respond to DNS queries, which helps in reducing latency.
- Route 53 can route internet traffic to CloudFront distribution, Elastic Beanstalk endpoint, ELB record, or S3 bucket. Also, there's no extra charge for DNS queries to these resources.
- Traffic management
