Summary

In this chapter, we looked at how you can take your exports from iMovie and customize their aspect ratio, and compress them to fit within file size limits. iMovie will only export in a 16:9 aspect ratio, but we learned that by changing the slide size in Keynote, or rotating our clips in iMovie and correcting them with QuickTime Player, we can create a video with just the aspect ratio we want.

You can also change a video’s aspect ratio using transcoders such as Handbrake; they are best placed for changing multiple aspects of a video and applying preset changes to a large number of videos. Handbrake is probably best known for letting you use different codecs and quality settings to compress videos. We learned how to do this simply and effectively, as well as how to make a file close to a chosen size by calculating bitrate.

Now that your exports have been customized for their intended destination, it’s up to your audience or clients to enjoy them. This book...
