Keys to successful assessment


The following questions have to be asked in order to determine the key to a successful assessment: How can you determine how and where students are learning? What are the best measures and how can you use them?

In an online course, you have many opportunities to create assessments and mini-assessments that can help students develop a sense of confidence. They will also become more aware of what they are learning and how their knowledge is growing over time.

Here are a few guidelines for creating effective assessments and for deciding how and where to offer them within Moodle:

  • Assessments must be connected in an integral way with the course goals and standards.

  • Assessments must be aligned with all the instructional content and activities so that the information provided directly relates to the desired learning outcomes.
