AI and IoT
When working with IIoT, we typically need to work with a plethora of technologies, from statistical data modeling using stochastic processes to AI. These technologies often come from other fields, such as trading, image processing, and natural language processing (NLP), and have been adapted for use in IIoT. AI and in particular ML is not part of IoT, but it is strongly linked to it, so much so that a new term was founded: artificial intelligence of things (AIoT).
Today, when we speak about AI, we refer to ML; let’s see what ML is.
ML
ML algorithms try to build a model from data. ML algorithms can be supervised learning, unsupervised learning, or reinforcement learning (RL).
Supervised learning
In supervised models, the algorithm learns from a set of data that is labeled with the correct answers. For instance, in the renewable energy sector, we might have a set of data that contains the input of a wind turbine, including the amount of wind and the turbine...
