Summary
In this chapter, we learned how to develop an IIoT platform from scratch. The purpose of this was to highlight the issues we might encounter during the platform’s development.
We isolated the edge from the centralized data database by studying a widespread protocol such as MQTT.
We studied the differences between the cold path and the hot path (continuous versus batch). We did some exercises with the asset registry to understand the importance of having a single point to keep all the relationships between the various assets and the related measures. In the next chapter, we will explore the most common IoT and IIoT platforms.
