Considerations for Music Production
The tools and workflows for music production can vary depending on the genre of music being created, and how that music is being recorded. A bluegrass band may simply need one mic in a room as the players move around it (I’ve seen this in person a few times – it’s quite impressive!), whereas an electronic music producer may have no microphone recordings at all and either generate the sound within Pro Tools using Instrument tracks or externally with different synthesizers and record the audio into Pro Tools. Given the massive variety of ways a music project can be implemented, this chapter cannot encompass all methods. Instead, the goal is to provide a number of workflows and recipes that can be applied to different situations.
