Summary
In this chapter, we learned how the Scrum Master can serve the Product Owner by advising and coaching them in Product Backlog management techniques, identifying business value, dealing with undone work, and interfacing with the stakeholders.
We started by discussing the meaning and purpose of Done and explained what to do with undone work. We proceeded to identify what business value is and discuss the Key Value Areas and relevant metrics, as defined in the Evidence-Based Management guide. We then suggested techniques for better backlog refinement, the use of delegation, and how to respond to external interference with the Product Backlog. We then wrapped up the chapter by identifying the stakeholders and suggesting ways to manage their expectations.
In the next – and final – chapter of this book, we will discuss the Scrum certification exams and offer practical advice to maximize your chances of success!
