Technical requirements

To show how Ocean Smart built its Personalizer pilot in our example, we will require several familiar tools, many of which you’ve used in previous examples from this book. As with all the examples, you will need access to the Azure portal with at least Contributor rights. Along with this, to use the service and build the example, you will need the following tools:

• Azure's Personalizer service
• The Azure Functions app
• Python version 3.9.6
• Azure Functions Core Tools
• Visual Studio Code (VS Code)
• The Python extension for VS Code
• The Azure Functions extension for Visual Studio Code

Before we start to build though, let’s begin by discussing the history and details of the Personalizer service.
