Selecting an Appropriate Database Transfer Mechanism
Migrating database workloads to the cloud can be a daunting challenge even for the most seasoned database administrator or cloud architect. Once an organization builds a strong business case for migration, the next steps involved are assessing the workloads, identifying the interdependencies, selecting the right migration strategy, and finally undertaking the migration itself using one or more specialized sets of tools or services.
In this section of the chapter, we shall explore each of the Assess, Plan, Migrate, and Operate phases that are required to undertake a database migration from on-premises data centers to the AWS cloud.
