Assigning VM storage policies

As indicated in the previous recipe, you can assign/edit VM storage policies to/of existing virtual machines. This will help associate virtual machines with desired storage tiers.

The policy can be applied even to the virtual machines home directory, in case you want virtual disks to be stored in a different storage tier.

How to do it...

The following procedure will help you to edit the VM storage policies of a VM:

  1. Connect to the vCenter Server using the web client and switch to the Host and Clusters view using the key combination Ctrl + Alt + 2 (since this activity is performed on a VM, you can use the VMs and Templates view as well, using the key combination Ctrl + Alt + 3).
