Throughout this book, we’ve focused on crafting engaging conversational experiences with ChatGPT and LLMs both as a tool and as technology for complex conversational experiences. The landscape of LLMs has undergone a dramatic transformation since we first set out on this journey, fueled by continuous advancements in LLM technology. ChatGPT, while a groundbreaking innovation at its release, now represents just one piece of a much larger and more versatile LLM ecosystem.

I’ve worked in conversational AI for a number of years, many years before ChatGPT, and had the pleasure of working on and putting into production many NLU-based applications. This has given me a strong understanding of the challenges of conversational AI, what LLMs need to do to overcome them, and whether they are capable.
