Summary

In this chapter, we walked through the Snort installation process on two different and widely popular operating systems – CentOS and Kali. We looked at the preparation of the system, the installation of dependencies, and finally, the installation of Snort. In the next chapter, we will learn how to configure Snort to set up the IPS.
