Introduction

Security of the software-defined network controller is at the heart of network security. However, the security architectures that can be used within the SDN are variants based on the business case. OpenDaylight comes with authentication and authorization mechanisms out of the box, which secure OpenDaylight and it also has federation with different authentication systems such as LDAP IPs and FreeIPA. In this chapter, you will learn how to use OpenDaylight built-in authentication and authorization functionality and how to integrate OpenDaylight with existing federation systems such as FreeIPA.
