Summary
This chapter highlighting The Creativity Competency in instructional design has, hopefully, opened your eyes to the different meanings of creativity, and how they intersect in the field of learning design. Learning how to think like a designer – because you ARE a designer – will help you to design and develop more innovative and useful solutions for your learners, team, stakeholders, and/or clients.
If you haven’t had much artistic design experience, my hope is that this chapter has opened your eyes to the different types of creativity and how to develop and strengthen your instructional design practice. Even if you’ve never heard of the concepts discussed in this chapter, you’ll now be able to truly creatively problem-solve like a designer.
