Privacy in Microsoft Teams

Teams is a cloud-based service that has to process numerous types of personal data in order to provide the service. Privacy is to be addressed at each and every level of a shared working environment. The collaboration facilitates the group tasks to be achieved in time, although there is always a potential risk of personal data leaks.

This personal data includes the following:

  • Content: The data generated by recordings, meetings and chats, shared files, transcriptions, and so on.
  • Profile Data: User information shared with the organization.
  • Call History: A record of the calls to be reviewed later.
  • Call Quality Data: System admins can review the details of user meetings and call data.
  • Support/Feedback Data: Record of the troubleshooting tickets or feedback submitted to Microsoft.
  • Diagnostic and Service Data: Service usage reports sent to Microsoft for performance analysis and improved service delivery.
