Setting up your organization
The foundation of your Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment is the organization resource. This represents your company within GCP and serves as the root of your resource hierarchy. Just like filing cabinets have folders to organize documents, your GCP organization will contain folders and projects to categorize and manage your cloud resources. But before you can start deploying applications and databases, you need to set up this essential foundation.
A Google Cloud project is a fundamental unit that organizes your Google Cloud resources. You can grant access on a project level, and some resources (such as network) can be shared across projects, but think about a project as a finite unit that you can organize in folders.
There are two main paths to establishing your organization, depending on your existing Google Cloud setup:
