The enterprise portfolio planning mechanism
Different organizations, depending on their size of operations, organizational operating model, structure, and enterprise business agility model, follow different enterprise portfolio planning and adoption mechanisms. You will find cases where there are annual and quarterly enterprise-wide business reviews across a whole organization, and you will also find monthly priority planning dedicated to each business line or value stream, or even monthly or quarterly program increments for organizations that have adopted Scaled Agility Framework (SAFe). Irrespective of your enterprise planning and adoption mechanism, you will have to fit the DevOps 360° evolution into it. You’ll also need to agree on how you will balance your tactical and organic adoptions. Naturally, you must not create a dedicated mechanism only for the DevOps evolution, as you do much more than just DevOps in your organization.
