Performance overview
All users want is speed and reliability when it comes to satisfying the services provided by SharePoint and your team. I cannot tell you how many times I have been confronted by users and management on why something is performing slowly. Tuning performance ensures that the platform is solid and working as it should, while also giving users the ability to quickly do their work.
When SharePoint runs slowly or is not reliable, you run the risk of users not being able to complete work – there could be major work being done in SharePoint you may know nothing about. I have been on site at a bank where a process ran every day at the same time. No one knew what was going on. We did some performance checks and figured out it was coming from a specific department.
