Chapter 7: Advanced Techniques: Retouching, Selections, and Text

With the experience of understanding layers now safely in your repertoire of skills, it's time to look a little closer at developing your retouching skills. Elements 2020 has a range of very high-end tools with which to perfect your work— whether it's portraiture, weddings, or landscapes.

One of the big issues with regular photo-editing tools such as Levels and Hue/Saturation is that their effects are global—everything in the image is affected proportionally. To limit the spread of these effects to a specific part of the frame, we look at making selections, using a wide range of tools designed for isolating parts of an image for detailed, non-global editing.
