Column formatting
Column formatting allows you to manipulate how data is displayed to the users, without you needing to change the values that have been stored for the formatted column in the list.
Formatting a column requires the user to have basic knowledge of HTML and JSON as Microsoft combined both to create the formatting languages available in Microsoft Lists. If you are not familiar with the web programming language, you can use the basic formatting options available in the Microsoft Lists interface.
Any user with permissions to create or manage views will be able to format columns in a list.
Supported column types
Formatting is possible in most of the columns, but you will find some column types where this option is not available.
The following table shows each column type and the supported formatting options. Columns that support WYSIWYG allow you to create basic formatting without the need to write code:
