Adding set dressing elements to each shot

Using the previous list of set dressing elements, let’s start enhancing each of our shots.

Shot_01 – Adding a HUD that turns on to indicate a habitable planet has been found

In this very first shot, we will add a HUD on the flight deck console area. As the camera moves closer to the console area, the HUD will turn on and the text will read that a habitable planet has been found.

We will do this by adding a simple plane and dragging and dropping a pre-made material I made using some simple Material nodes, then, using the Sequencer, the HUD will be turned on using keyframe animation. Let’s start:

  1. Open the A_New_Beginning project, then, in the Cinematics folder, open Master_Sequence.
  2. Jump into Shot_01 and press the G key to hide the overlay icons. Then, drag the playhead to frame 119 (the last keyframe).
  3. Using the green + icon, add a plane to the scene. Then, set its location, rotation, and size using...
