Detecting and mitigating data breaches in cloud services

A data breach, as its name implies, is the unauthorized access of an organization's data. This can result in the exposure of customer or employee personal data and lead to reputational damage for an organization. Because of the shared responsibility model of cloud computing, we need to think differently about data breaches. For example, we do not control the physical storage of our data. This presents a different threat model when compared to a traditional on-premises data center we manage. Data breaches are more likely when working with public cloud services because in this case, we don't control the physical storage of our data.
