Exploring and learning meta-regression and which packages to use for its implementation in Python
In meta-analysis we are not interested just in comparing one overall effect (size or outcome), but also seeing how different covariates affect that overall effect. Why is this important? Because, in many biological settings, the overall effect is summarized and there could be biological covariates affecting the way the overall effect is behaving. For example, if a vaccine treatment is the main goal of the analysis, the subjects receiving the vaccine could be compared against those not receiving it. But, among biology researchers and clinicians, it is known that age affects the effectiveness of the vaccine. So, the meta-analysis would need to evaluate how age affects the vaccine too in a process called meta-regression.
