Modern and classic list features
As mentioned in Chapter 1, Getting Started with Microsoft Lists, SharePoint had a major update in 2016 when Microsoft introduced the modern experience in SharePoint. Despite having been released in 2016, the modern experience rollout is not yet complete and there are areas of the product that still only exist in the classic version, even though Microsoft Lists has been introduced as a modern application.

Microsoft Lists features that are available in the modern and classic versions are shown and explained in the modern layout within this book. The classic experience will gradually disappear, and we believe that you will take more advantage of the system if you use it exclusively in the modern experience. All the features that are only available in the classic experience and are still relevant will be highlighted within the text.
