Part 3 – Customizing Your Videos
iMovie most likely gets a bad rep because lots of the videos made using it look the same. The way to get around this isn’t to buy or subscribe to a paid NLE – that won’t make you a better editor. It’s all about looking around at what’s available to you and using that to make your videos unique.
In this part of the book, we’re going to use other apps to change what’s possible within iMovie. To start off, we’re going to learn how to create custom titles and animations in Keynote that improve on both the titles iMovie provides and the keyframing available for PiP overlays.
We’re then going to look at customizing our exports from iMovie using Keynote, Handbrake, and even iMovie itself. Gaining an understanding of video compression – especially how ProRes works – should help you to choose the best settings for encoding your video, and the video you’re editing...
