Character Animator scene cameras

When we created the Chatting with Chat animation, we used After Effects’ camera system to add zooms, closeups, and cuts to the scene. This benefited us since we used After Effects for more than just the camera. But what if you want to use a camera and skip using After Effects entirely? We can do that with Scene Camera in Character Animator.

For a quick example, let’s keep Chapter_13_Additional_Features.chproj open. To add a camera to the scene, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure Scene – Pirate Chad is still open.
  2. Go to Scene > New Scene Camera (Ctrl or Command + Alt + Shift + C):

  1. This will create an additional layer designated as the camera, labeled Camera 1. If you click this layer, the Camera Track Behaviors panel will appear on the right:
