Upgrading a cluster

In this recipe, we are looking to upgrade a cluster. This recipe works for updates as well as upgrades.

Getting ready

We need a cluster that consists of at least two nodes and is ready to be upgraded.

How to do it...

This is a simple process that I will split in 3 parts. First execute the following steps and then continue with either Minor upgrades or Major upgrades:

  1. Shut down all the Orchestrator servers in the cluster.
  2. Upgrade the Orchestrator servers, as seen in the recipe Updating Orchestrator in Chapter 1, Installing and Configuring Orchestrator.
  3. After finishing the upgrade, you need to log in to the Control Center.
  4. Make sure all the node settings are correct.
  5. Continue with either Minor upgrades or Major upgrades.

Minor upgrades

If you are upgrading between minor versions, such as 7.0 and 7.0.1, where no hardware change was made, then follow this step:

Upgrade the next Orchestrator server until you have upgraded the whole cluster.
