Reza Rahman is the principal program manager for Java on Azure at Microsoft. He brings more than a decade of experience with tech leadership to his contributions to industry journals, and he authored the popular book EJB 3 in Action. A frequent speaker at Java User Groups (JUGs) and conferences worldwide, Reza has been the lead for the Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE) track at JavaOne, as well as being named a JavaOne Rockstar. Geertjan Wielenga: Not much is known about developer advocacy outside of the industry. Would you agree with that?
Reza Rahman: Yes, but it shouldn't be that way. It's difficult because developer advocacy is more of a function than a paid profession in many cases.
Geertjan Wielenga: What's the difference between a function and a profession?
Reza Rahman: Let's take me as an example. I was hired to do evangelism full-time for a relatively brief period...
