OneNote, with its versatility, was a pioneer of several features that today are essential. If you are a regular user of the tool, you will notice many of its features in other Microsoft applications.

Drawing in free space, combined with text, images, and documents, has become such a widely used resource that it was ported in part to a specific drawing and frame tool, Microsoft Whiteboard, which we will discuss in more detail in Chapter 7, Collaboration and Ideation with Microsoft Whiteboard.

Capturing specific parts of the screen today is indispensable for productivity, and guess just where it started: in OneNote! Even the shortcut that is used to open the OneNote capture center today opens the Snip & Sketch tool.
