Summary

In this chapter, we learned the end-to-end process of digital platform ideation and validation. We started with identifying the user, then moved on to formulating the problem statement and defining the solution, and, finally, validating the concept.

In the problem definition phase, we looked at some of the distinguishing factors with respect to digital platforms. For example, in digital platforms, user identification involves identifying the pairs of producers and consumers, and the problem statement should cut across that pair. It should be a holistic problem statement involving all the user types and roles. We also discussed how before arriving at the problem statement we can create empathy maps. For digital platforms, each user type or user role should have its own empathy map.

We looked at some of the established techniques available to identify the solution. While collecting ideas for a solution, we should always keep the holistic problem statement at the center...
