Traditionally, users are usually authenticated by username and password. However, in today's technological trends in which a user needs to log in to different environments to access applications, websites, and other services, the traditional format of authentication is neither viable nor secure. The same goes for Microsoft's operating systems and services. Therefore, Microsoft has introduced Microsoft Passport, which enables users to authenticate without a password.
