Creating a water material

Now that we have our plane, let’s add a material called Water to it:

  1. Select the plane object.
  2. Go to Material Properties.
  3. Add a material called Water to the plane object.
  4. Switch the bottom menu of Blender to Shader Editor so that we can edit our material.

Here are the preceding steps shown in our Blender scene:

The first thing to do is to delete the Principled BSDF node; we don’t need it to create our water material.

  1. Select the Principled BSDF node, press X, and it will be deleted. We’ll be left with the Material Output node alone:

To create water, we will need to mix two effects: reflectivity and transparency.

  1. Let’s add a Glass BSDF node. Search for it by hitting Shift + A in Shader Editor. This node works like a glass...
