Summary
In this chapter, you learned how to select databases and query their tables. You also learned how to apply different filters to the results using WHERE. You got hands-on practice with popular built-in functions that help you manipulate data, such as ROUND(), POW(), and CEILING(), string functions to slice and dice output, and used date and time functions to enable you to capture different points in time when a record was inserted or manipulated. Finally, you got to practice aggregating data, which is a must-have skill for any database admin.
In the next chapter, we will continue our journey and cover using joins to correlate related data.
