Understanding core entities in Field Service

The Field Service app leverages some core common entities with the rest of the apps in the family. These are a set of defined entities that form the initial model for Common Data Service (CDS) and include elements such as accounts and contacts. This Common Data Mode (CDM) has been agreed upon in collaboration with multiple partners, in the hope of standardizing and unifying various applications. In addition, entities such as the work order, which is at the core of this module, are specific to Field Service.

Accounts and contacts

As mentioned, accounts and contacts are shared across the entire family of Dynamics 365 products. Accounts are the main customer organization. This represents a company we do business with. Contacts, on the other hand, are people. These are individuals we communicate with directly. They are associated with an account as the organization they work for.
